Last year, I applied for Project Runway season 19. I made it through 3 different interview processes, but unfortunately I did not get selected to be on this season. Instead of focusing on the negative I decided to watch the show pause it before too much is revealed and practice my skills by designing and competing as if I were on the show. I really just wanted to test my abilities and see what designs I would have come up with. In challenging myself I will follow the rules of the show to the best of my ability but will use the software CLO to finish all of the designs rather than physical construction. Building in CLO requires the pattern to be made and the physical garment can easily be made afterwards. So here are the rules I set for myself. I will watch the beginning of the episode, after I hear the assignment, I will stop and do a 20 minute sketch. After my sketch, I visit Mood’s fabric website to select my fabric for the design just as the designers on the show do, but virtually. I only give myself 15 mins to do this and I am only to get supplies under the same budget as the show. The last step is making the pattern and garment in CLO and submitting a runway ready design. This the closest I’ve gotten to getting on the show, and before I studied fashion this show always inspired me and helped shape my goals as a fashion designer. So I wanted to just have fun and make the most of it. Thanks for viewing and if you like this type of content please subscribe and feel free to reach out with any questions. I most likely will continue this series so keep an eye out for the next episode and my work! QG Project Runway: EP1: Music:
