This magnificent 1970 Mercury Cyclone GT 429 SCJ V8 Drag Pak has 15,392 original miles and is one of only 73 built with the 429 Super Cobra Jet V8 Drag Pak. It’s completely original matching numbers throughout including the rebuilt 429 SCJ V8 that dyno tested with 527HP and 599 Ft-Lbs. The Super Cobra Jet 429-4V V8 was the street version of the Boss 429 racing engine as stated in the original factory Mercury dealership brochure that’s included. It is fully documented with the original Ford (Lois Eminger) Invoice and Elite Marti Report both of which are included. This authentic car was the product of a high level rotisserie restoration and the attention to detail is evident throughout. This vehicle’s order type was an “A Plan Vehicle” which meant it was ordered by an employee of Ford or the selling dealership which in this case was Sesi Lincoln Mercury located in Ypsilanti, MI. It was ordered on September 23, 1969 as a 1970 Mercury Cyclone GT 2-door hardtop with a Competition Yellow exterior and Black Comfortweave Vinyl Hi-Back Bucket Seats interior. From the information gathered this car only had 15,000 original miles prior to the nut and bolt rotisserie restoration which was completed in 2020. The previous and current title states actual mileage. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car in July of 2021 and sold the car in February of 2022 to a previous customer who is avid classic car collector. This vehicle was on display in his museum until MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car back in March of 2023. The exterior of this car is in absolutely gorgeous condition throughout. It appears like a sleeper with it quiet demeanor but don’t be fooled. Some of the meanest Muscle Cars from the 60’s and 70’s looked like sleepers but were indeed high performance street machines. From the information gathered it retains all of its original sheet metal. The body is laser straight with great panel fitment. The overall bodywork is truly remarkable. The hood, doors and trunk lid close very nicely. The car was re-finished in its original color of Competition Yellow paint, Ford #3470-A. The paint work is spectacular to say the least. It was recently detailed to a brilliant show quality shine by the team at MS CLASSC CARS. The Ram Air induction hood, dual racing mirrors, concealed headlights, black lower body-side painted and Cyclone GT 429 emblems give it the perfect amount of muscle car appearance. The wheels have factory hub caps, bright trim rings and are wrapped with B.F. Goodrich Silvertown G78-14 whitewall tires. The interior of this is car in beautiful condition throughout. When you open the driver’s door and slide into the spacious cabin it feels like its 1970 all over again. The black comfortweave vinyl interior is mostly original and truly remarkable considering. It appears to be all original with exception of the carpeting and a few miscellaneous items. The Hi-back bucket seats are still firm and very comfortable. The seat belts still retain all the original date coded tags. The door panels are outfitted with the factory Cyclone badging. The rim-blow sport steering wheel is in front of the 140-mph speedometer. The 8000-rpm tachometer, oil pressure, engine temperature and ammeter gauges are recessed individually into the dash. This design and the Hurst shifter continue the muscle car appearance in the cabin. It sports a new set of black carpeted floor mats with the words Cyclone on them. Everything in the interior is in working order. The engine compartment is highly detailed with many correct parts throughout. The car is powered by the original matching numbers 429 Super Cobra Jet V8 engine that was factory rated at 375HP. MS CLASSIC CARS had this engine completely rebuilt by NATS Engines in Seekonk, MA. The decision was made at the time of the rebuild to use higher performance parts for better reliability and increased horsepower. The engine was bored .80 over and stroked to a 533ci. It has the factory intake and Holley carburetor #D00F-9210-N. The engine is dressed with the factory Ram Air Induction which is in working order. The engine dyno tested wit with 527 horsepower and 599 Ft-Lbs. of torque. The engine breathes through the factory manifolds and correct style reproduction dual exhaust system with chrome tips that sounds awesome! Everything in the engine compartment has been restored or replaced. The engine is coupled to original matching numbers 4-speed transmission with factory Hurst shifter. The power is transferred to the original “Drag Pak” Traction-Lok rear axle. The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. Follow us on social media!
