THE MECHANIC-DRIVER OF AN ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIER, A MARINE OF THE 40TH PACIFIC FLEET BRIGADE

The mechanic-driver of an armored personnel carrier, a marine of the 40th Pacific Fleet brigade, Vitaly Narushevich, was nominated for the title of Hero of Russia. He delivered attack aircraft to Urozhaynoe three times, once his armored personnel carrier hit a mine, the second time he was hit, apparently from a grenade launcher. With a severe concussion, the Marine returned to the rear, refused hospitalization and again went into battle in a new armored personnel carrier.
