Aaron Ramsdale has joined Southampton in a permanent transfer. Aaron joined us from Sheffield United in August 2021 and made 89 appearances in all competitions. During his time with us, Aaron was voted into the PFA Team of the Year for 2022/23, a campaign where he was on the pitch for every single minute of our Premier League season. He also won the Premier League Save of the Month award in both March and April 2023, and played a crucial part in our 2023 FA Community Shield victory over Manchester City, saving a penalty in our 4-1 shootout win at Wembley. The 26-year-old goalkeeper developed through the Blades' academy, making his first-team debut at 18. He joined Bournemouth in 2017 and enjoyed loan spells at Chesterfield and AFC Wimbledon, where he won their Young Player of the Year award. He returned to Bournemouth, winning their Supporters’ Player of the Season award in 2019/20, before re-joining Sheffield United at the start of the 2020/21 season – a campaign in which he was named the club’s Player and Young Player of the Year. A regular for England at youth levels, Aaron won the UEFA Under-19s Championships in 2017, and made his full England debut in November 2021. He was in the England squads which reached the Euro 2020 and 2024 finals, and the quarter-finals at the 2022 World Cup. Sporting Director Edu said: “We are pleased to have reached a very positive transfer completion with Southampton and Aaron leaves us with our best wishes. We thank Aaron for his performances for the club since joining us three years ago, and we wish him and his family well in their new chapter.” Manager Mikel Arteta added: “Aaron has been a top professional since joining in 2021 and has made many contributions during his time with us. We thank Aaron for everything he gave to Arsenal and we wish him and his family the best of health, success and happiness in his new opportunity with Southampton.” Everyone at Arsenal thanks Aaron for his contribution to the club and wishes him all the best for his future. #arsenal Enjoy match highlights, training and behind the scenes to get closer to the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus, Alex Zinchenko, Leah Williamson, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kim Little, Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale, Beth Mead, Ben White and more.
