This song of the counter-revolution talk about the fight of the general Henry du Vergier, count of la Rochejaquelein, who fought the attacks from the revolutionaries anti-catholics in Vendée. He led all the attacks and his leadership inspired the Catholics to maintain a heroic resistance in spite of tremendous odds.
