My reaction and review of Godbluff by Van der Graaf Generator. This is my first time hearing the new 2021 New Stereo Mix but I have heard the album a few times before. Van der Graaf Generator are a progressive rock band who were making a pretty different noise in the 1970s to a lot of their more symphonic and psychedelic peers. Their music is often intense, even aggressive, and deeply strange. Their singer Peter Hammill is an especially unique presence in their sound. After being a bit underwhelmed by the first album I heard from them, 1970's The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other, I enjoyed H to He Who Am the Only One (which came out later that same year) quite a bit more thanks to its heavier and more memorable writing. But it was with 1971's Pawn Hearts that I really became a fan, a really satisfying album in the Close to the Edge mould of two 10 minute tracks and a 20 minute behemoth. After this VDGG actually took a 4 year break and when they returned with Godbluff in 1975 their sound had obviously changed quite a bit. When I first heard this album a few years back I found it quite difficult to get into, so when I saw that last year a brand new remaster and remix of the album had been released, I figured this would be a great opportunity to give the album another chance. ► 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥 📀 Patreon: Get full access to my archive of unedited reactions and much more! ☕ One-time donations: ► 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐬 🎶 Twitch: 🐤 Twitter: 💬 Discord: 📷 Instagram: 🌐 Website: ► 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 ♪ 🎧 You can listen to the album yourself here: ► 𝐌𝐲 𝐆𝐞𝐚𝐫 🎤 Microphone Shure MV7: 🎧 Headphones HyperX Cloud Stinger Core: 📹 Xiaomi Redmi note 8 pro: ► 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫 Affiliate links are included in this description.
