Genre : Indie rock, Indie Pop, Alt Pop, Dream Pop Moods: Happy, Chill Spotify playlist Youtube playlist Lyrics : Somehow it seems right now You’re king of your hometown You’ve been living it for years I remember it well now But I see a whole new crowd And I know it’s the same old tears Turn it upside-down Move it all around how you want Is it real Even after all these years you’re still the same You keep getting older Your attitude is bolder But the kids they stay the same Watching the sunrise Peruvian pink style Same old thoughts in different brains Move it all around Dress it up and down The grey in your beard is all that’s changed Even after all these years you’re still the same No new tricks for an old dog Your premise remains flawed Still we burn that purple haze Talk of the old days And that all things they will change Shake your hand and I’m on my way Even after all these years you still remain Even after all these years you’re still the same About the song : Simple and to the point, “Still The Same“ is a sleek indie rock jingle about growing older and witnessing the ways in which life may change us. Consisting of a spacious melody with only one refrain in the chorus, Scott’s silky vocals invoke the intimacy of Steely Dan, Jerry Garcia, and Kurt Vile. Immediately upon listening, one of the highlights is a very disco leaning guitar riff that emanates vibes of an early Bee Gees track. Co-produced by astounding bassist Tim Lefebvre (David Bowie, Margaret Glaspy, John Mayer) “Still The Same“ reads like a relaxing summer jam. Very much a tune to kick back to with a bottle of wine, Scott Fisher’s entrancing vocals are bound to sweep you into a delightful sonic universe. The track is again enhanced by the straightforward, yet compact drumbeats of Jeff Anthony (Sheryl Crow, Chuck Prophet). Altogether, the trio showcase their talents and abilities on writing a killer groove, and it is only a snippet of what is expected on the forthcoming Kingdom of Ego. “Still The Same“ is a wholesome number about friendships that seem timeless. Although many factors in the world may change, there are still a select few people we will always be able to rely on. Adorable lines like “The Grey in your beard is all that’s changed” prove as testament to Fisher’s loyalty. Despite the inevitable concept of aging, we still can aim to love our friends for who they are at their core. - S.F / team About Scott Fisher : Growing up with a French mother and an American father enabled Fisher to draw inspiration from various cultures. Fisher’s first exposure to music began when he studied classical piano from exiled German concert pianist, Ilse Glassel. As a result, his early solo albums are very key-heavy, and encompass everything from piano/pop, classical piano, and Bossa Nova. Over the years, Fisher has exemplified that he is unafraid to test out different genres that may be outside of his comfort zone. Because of his impressive talent as a musician, Fisher has opened for artists such as Brandi Carlile, Augustana, and Pink Martini. - S.F / team
