I have built small shelters within these adobe walls and they keep me warm at night but now is the time to build a roof and turn this project into the hut it was intended to be. When the roof is complete I will have a lot of room inside to stay busy and warm while the cold air of winter is kept outside. When spring arrives I will remove the roof and finish building the walls. The lessons learned from building this roof will then aid me to build a better roof in the spring. The frame of this roof is made mostly of juniper branches which are quite strong. I used long straight branches of desert willow to weave it all together and create connecting cross beams that will support the juniper bark that will cover the entire roof. I also used approximately 100 feet (31 meters) of yucca cordage. It required at least ten hours for me to make the cordage by rolling the yucca fibers together on my leg. This series will be ongoing so be sure to stay tuned for the next video. *Turn on captions to see subtitles in othe
