Yemen’s Houthis have claimed responsibility for a deadly drone attack on Tel Aviv early on Friday that killed at least one person and injured multiple others. Yahya Saree, the Houthis’ military spokesperson, said that they used a new drone for the attack that is “capable of bypassing Israel’s interception systems”, adding that they declare the Tel Aviv area “unsafe” and that it would be “a primary target within the range of our weapons”. Israel’s air force said it had identified the drone but not intercepted it due to a “human error”. The military said it would increase fighter jet patrols to “defend Israel’s skies”. The unprecedented attack took place hours after Israel killed two top commanders from the Lebanese Iran-backed group Hezbollah in south Lebanon.
