When The Police got around to recording their fourth LP, “Ghost In The Machine“ they went to Montserrat's Ari Studios. Sting had recorded a demo of “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic“ in 1976 at the Morin Heights' Le Studio, just north of Montreal. Sting was not satisfied with the results when the trio re-recorded the song as it did not have the energy of the demo. In the end Sting persuaded his bandmates to dub their parts over his demo, to their dismay. The song was released as a single on September 26, 1981 and reached a peak of #3 for two weeks on the Hot100. Two songs kept them there, the first song was Olivia Newton-John's #1 Physical and second was Foreigner's #2 “Waiting For A Girl Like You“, that's how hot those songs were at the time.
