ABOUT It's been ten years since Bonnie Raitt was at the North Sea Jazz Festival. In 2005 she released the album Souls Alike, but after that thesinger-songwriterfell still. After losing her parents and brother she had decided to withdraw from the limelight to grieve. Gradually, she began to take up music again. In the summer of 2009 she went on a charity tour with Taj Mahal. Now she is back in full swing with a new, Grammy-Award winning album, Slipstream, released on her own Redwing Records label. With her magnificent cover version of Dylan's Million Miles, among others, Raitt again proves just what a brilliant singer and guitarist she is. The title of the album, Slipstream, refers to the musical traditions - blues and soul - of which Raitt is a part. She learned her craft from blues legends like Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker, and she is now being covered in turn by the likes of Adele and Bon Iver.
