The dancer in this clip is Nahed Sabry and the scene is from the 1962 Egyptian horror/mystery “The Palace of the Damned” (Al Qasr Al Maleun القصر الملعون ). Born in 1925 in Tanta, Egypt, Nahed Sabri and her sister went to the bright lights of Cairo where Nahed became a pupil of Nelly Mazloum. She was given her big break by Hussein Fawzi an Egyptian film director who was married to Naima Akef. Nahed Sabri travelled to the US where she lived for several years before returning to Egypt, later renouncing dancing and closing her dance schools. She died in 1987. The story of the film is that a young lawyer named Hassan (Salah Zulfikar) travels out of town to Mansoura to see his old friend Fathi (Abdelmonem Ibrahim) and to finalise a transfer of property. Straight away Fathi warns Hassan not to get involved as the client’s mansion has a sinister reputation.
