Two musical collectives, Mama Nature Band and Jeeva Project, found themselves in the Kungur ice cave on the banks of an underground river, the musicians began to improvise. The surrounding atmosphere was so mysterious and inspiring that the melody “Crystal Song of Ice” was born there. In a grotto with shimmering ice columns, surrounded by ice crystals, listeners were mesmerized by Marina Lavrentieva’s crystal soprano and the melodic tints of the harp, crystal flute, sarod, guitar, esraj, crystal harp... Under the ground, you don’t feel either time or the bustle of the modern world. It’s as if characters from ancient legends are surrounding you on all sides, and you are immersed in a mythological world! The beauty of ice in all its forms and how ice could sound is what “The Crystal Song of Ice” is about.
