However, having 4x4 on black ice won't do a single thing for your car or truck. It's best to have a studded snow tire that grips the snowy road. If not, you risk crashing your car in the tricky snow conditions. Winter roads need to be respected. Driving in deep snow is much better than driving on black ice, but it still has it's draw backs.
