Protests against the policies of President Kais Saied take place in Tunis on Friday, January 14, despite a ban on gatherings imposed as part of the county's anti-COVID-19 measures. Demonstrators are condemning Saied's decision to rule by decree in September, ignoring parts of the Tunisian constitution. The protest is led by representatives of Ennahda party, which vowed to take to the streets despite the ban. The gatherings also conicide with the 11th anniversary of the end of the ruling of Ben Ali, Tunisia's second president who was ousted in 2011 as a result of a revolution.
