China's President Xi Jinping will attend a US-led virtual climate summit on April 22. It will be the first meeting between Mr Xi and Mr Joe Biden since the new US administration took office. The world's top two polluting nations are at odds over issues like trade and human rights, but are seeking common ground on climate change. Meanwhile, the European Union has agreed on a climate change law that will make tougher new greenhouse gas emissions targets legally binding. The bloc aims to be carbon neutral by 2050. It will also reduce emissions by more than half by the end of this decade.
