More details: A powerful storm with heavy rain and high winds Tuesday spawned tornadoes in Florida - ripping roofs off buildings, felled trees and collapsed motorhomes - while the system roared through the Midwest with a snowstorm on its way to the Northeast. In the central U.S., the storm shut down major highways, filling the region with white clouds and blanketing roads with snow. On Monday and early Tuesday, the Kansas Highway Patrol responded to more than 100 crashes, 19 of which ended in injuries. In Boise City, Oklahoma, the emergency management department said it responded to calls reporting several stranded motorists and said all roads were closed.
