One of our favorite gems in the myriad of gemstones available in Sri Lanka is the Chrysoberyl. Generally a yellow to yellow-green color, it makes a dazzling spectacle of a gem, and it just so happens that it also has all the right elements to make it the perfect stone for a stunning piece of jewelry. With a hardness of 8.5 it sits right between sapphire and topaz for durability. Mix that with it’s sparkling R.I of and it truly makes for a spectacular gem. Unfortunately, most people aren’t very familiar with it, which makes it one of the most under appreciated gemstones on the market today. The silver lining with that unappreciative aspect is that you can still get an amazing chrysoberyl jewel for a reasonably respectable price. All that being said I truly had a blast cutting it.
