“The Contour“ kicks off our new EP, The Sound of Symmetry. I'm quite satisfied with the final product; Taylor Larson did an amazing job and completely fulfilled his role as producer/engineer. Goood buddayyy! Again, some of the edits look a little jerky because we ended up removing a few figures after tracking. Notes: 0:47 - 0:50 -- Eighth-note displacement 1:28 - 1:29 -- Quintuplet fill-in 1:29 - 1:56 -- Dual hi-hat groove section, very difficult to execute. The cymbal trade-offs during the parts in between were complement to some things Zack recorded on the demos; they aren't present in the final product but it still sounds pretty cool! 1:56 - 1:58 -- The 3-16 pattern is retained, but with 16ths on the kicks in between for a fast 32nd-note linear pattern 2:10 - 2:14 -- Ghost notes fill in most of the 16th gaps 2:21 - 2:22 -- Variation on the chorus fill-in 3:18 - 3:21 -- Hi-hats complement guitar Full drum set transcription:
