Many players in sledge hockey get caught with their hands up their sticks and don’t get them down in time to receive passes. Sometimes this is because of the glue from their hockey tape on their blade sticking to their gloves. Other times it’s just because they haven’t practiced, or aren’t thinking about getting their hands down fast enough. Here is a simple drill to practice with a partner to improve that. Sit across from your partner about 5 to 10 feet. Your partner must not tell you which side they are going to pass the puck to you on. Your job, is to begin with your hands at the top of the sticks, and then quickly react to get your hands down in time to receive that pass. - Focus on developing a quick reaction time - Use your outside hand/stick to balance you if you have to lean over - Practice both picking and then lowering your hand, plus grabbing your stick mid air - Control the puck and then pass it back We’ll have another video coming soon on ideas to help with yo
