Persija is one of the oldest clubs in Indonesian football and the biggest club in Indonesia’s capital city Jakarta. In Jakarta, identities are diverse and spread across multiple economic classes, which historically had posed a major obstacle in forming a connection with the football club. However, since 1997, almost 7 decades after the club’s formation in 1928, a group of 40 people, who called themselves “The Jakmania” started a revolution amongst the working class of Jakarta.
