Tibet: Journey Into The Himalayas This is a short documentary film I made last year in May 2018. It was shot during my short time in the Eastern Tibetan region of Kham situated in the South-Western Chinese Province of Sichuan. Tibetans are an ethnic minority whose history spans centuries into the past and whose cultural sphere is spread out across the entire Himalayan Mountain Range, from Myanmar to Afghanistan, Nepal to Mongolia. Today, Tibetans live all over the world, with small pockets of their diaspora found in many parts of the globe. But none other than their home of Tibet holds a vast landscape of serene beauty compared to anywhere else. This short film follows the travels of a young man as he witnesses a society who live one with nature among a pristine backdrop of snowcapped mountains, friendly yaks and omnipresent influence of Tibetan Buddhism. In their daily lives, herding yaks and participating in Buddhist rituals encompass the majority of their time. Some parts of the plateau are home to ancient monasteries where traditional woodblock printing and painting are still practised. While other sections of the plateau are home to the historic practice of the Sky Burial, a Tibetan Buddhist funeral practice whereby the deceased is placed on a mountain top and decomposed by the elements and being eaten by vultures. Land of vast landscapes, gorgeous yaks, friendly nomads and colourful culture and tradition, Tibet is definitely a jewel of anthropology and geography. One of my all-time most memorable trips. If you've been to this region, let me know what your thoughts are in the comments below, would love to hear what you think! Shot on the LG V30. Get in touch! Inquiries: ar@ Website: Instagram: @
