This footages was filmed illegally at a landfill in Bali. At the risk of being caught, I took out my drone and started filming these shots. Every 5 minutes, a truck with waste arrives there, which is dumped into huge piles. I was horrified by the scale of the landfill. And also the way people go through the garbage and look for at least something there that can be recycled and get some money. But the main part of the waste will remain here forever to rot and exude a liquid that poisons everything around. Rice fields and gardens of peasants adjoin directly to the landfill. Also, a small irrigation canal flows through the landfill, into which garbage and sewage enter. Part of the waste ends up in the ocean, which is also located nearby. With this video, I want to encourage all of us to conscious consumption, reuse of things and separate collection of waste for recycling. Changing the world is hard! But we can change ourselves.
