A short video explaining the structure of phosphorus bombs, their mechanism of action, and why exactly they are dangerous to humans. The combustion temperature of white phosphorus is 1200–1300 degrees, which is comparable to the temperature of basalt lava directly at the exit of a volcano. The substance that gets on the body instantly burns through clothing and causes severe burns, even death. Combustion is accompanied by the release of characteristic smoke, which is extremely toxic. Ingestion of to grams of the substance leads to death. Extinguishing white phosphorus is incredibly difficult - the flame resists water well, and fire extinguishers are powerless against it. The substance either burns out completely on its own or goes out in the absence of oxygen. It can even burn underwater. Источник: Russian Head
