This might be the best track on “Please Please Me.“ Such a gem. I could go on and on about things I love here. It's all there - a tight rhythm section, driving guitars, magical harmonies. This would probably be in the top 5 of any other band's greatest hits. Too bad it doesn't get more credit! It's quickly becoming one of my favorite early Beatles songs. A few things of note on the instrumentation. First, I'm totally bragging but this is the second tune after “Something“ where I literally memorized every note of Paul's bassline. It's another one that changes every verse, so it must be intentional. He was such a masterful musician, even in the early days. Second, John's rhythm guitar totally makes this song groove. He was such a underrated guitarist, since this isn't remotely easy to play. Dude had chops. I also adore the sound of the J-160E here. Majestic.
