The Russian city of Sochi has experienced the worst “storm of the century,“ though not completely, as a storm warning remains in effect there on Monday, November 27. A complex of unfavorable weather conditions is expected with heavy rains, thunderstorms, hail, snow in the mountains, a possible rise in river levels, and a growing risk of mudflows. According to the Russian weather service, wind gusts can reach 27 m/s, a storm at sea - 6 points, waves up to 3-4 meters high. In the evening, many Sochi residents were waiting for a strong storm on the embankments to capture the moment, but the strongest waves reached the resort's shores at night. A real tsunami was observed in Sirius, with waves not only hitting the promenade but also reaching the nearby streets and flooding them. The strongest winds knocked down 30 trees in Sochi, and the consequences were being cleaned up all night. There were no casualties. The footage posted online shows how huge sea waves flooded the streets and hotel apartments located near the coast. The video also shows a three-story building “folding“ in seconds. Only the floors with fragments of walls and roof remained of the building. Strong waves also damaged the railroad tracks, causing trains to be delayed in Sochi.
