Kyiv. Before War. Capital of Ukraine Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine. Lying on both sides of the Dnieper, it is known for its religious architecture, secular monuments and history museums. Built in the 11th century, the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is a pilgrimage site that includes several golden-domed churches. In addition to its catacombs with the burial chambers of orthodox monks, the monastery is also known for its collection of antique gold objects from the Scythian period. #kyiv #beforewar #ukraine
