You asked, we listened! Here you go! The extended cut with over 5 minutes of footage we got after the bite! Hopefully this helps give some insight on just how painful the effects were and how long they lasted. All and all it took about 12 days before I felt totally normal after this bite. Some questions you all asked were How does the venom compare to other widow species ie Redbacks? The venom and effects are relatively similar throughout the Latrodectus Genus however, many species have a higher probability of Latrodectism. Latrodectism is more serious side effect of bites, and while it is uncommon, can cause multi-system organ failure and other problematic issues. This is generally seen with larger more potent species or with people susceptible to particular proteins and compounds found in the venom's chemical makeup. Another question we were asked was: How long after the bite did it start really hurting? As shown in the video it was relatively fine until about four and a half hours after the initial bite. After the four hour mark it really started to ramp up and hit a peak around hour five. This “peak“ level pain lasted, uninterrupted for approximately 13 hours. During this time I was unable to move, lay down, or sleep without excruciating pain. Essentially these bites are not fun. I will add again this is an extreme envenomation and not a good example of an average bite. At most a spider will bite and release unless they are completely pinned to human skin. I hope you all enjoyed our last bite video! Let us know in the comments what kind of videos you would all like to see showcased moving forward!
