At the age of 50, he wrote in his diary: “I dreamed that I was twenty and I was a virtuoso.“ However, he did more for the violin than dozens of other violinists, writing one of the most famous works for this instrument – Violin Concerto in D minor. In this Concerto, he competes not only with internal demons, but also with prominent predecessors.
