I remember seeing this film in an empty cinema, scared for anyone to see me there… 🍑✨ I was a closeted gay teen as I nervously booked x1 ticket to see this new LGBTQ film set in Italy. I slouched down in my seat in Soho and let the watercolour palette of this film wash over me. I was scared of people seeing me enter the cinema because would they think I was gay? What would they do? It’s silly looking back but it’s also the world we live in. I longed for a summer like this when I was younger, not just in terms of exploring but in terms of love. This film captured so many of our hearts and let us escape to an ideal little slice of queer warmth in sunny Crema. Moments lost within the long summer nights and connections remembered long after cycle rides through the country. This film remains a watercolour portrait of summer love like ships passing in the night. If you’re reading this then just know you’re special and valid and amazing and you’ll get to where you need to go. There’s lots of love waiting for you.
