💜 This song was written in response to the many criticisms BTS faced after their debut, a reference to the common slang of saying “you’re on” wish is used for saying 'yes' when someone has invited you to compete or do something difficult or dangerous. 'I bet I can sell more tickets than you. OK, you're on'. They responded to the hate by proclaiming how their passion/love is for their music and they do not plan to divert their attention to internet hate from low-lives. In the chorus they rise to the bait, saying ‘we on’, and make the promise that they will show those looking down on them that they are serious and that they’ll continue to persist/fight until they succeeded. And what a success they made!!! As usual, there is a lot of clever and fun wordplays in this song that you can't experience within a translation.
