⚠ PHOTOSENSITIVITY WARNING ⚠ After a long time away from content creation, I'm excited to be back at it with an incredibly powerful cover! A song from one of my all-time favorite bands too... CLOCKWORKS, by Meshuggah. --------------------------- A little backstory for you! Since it's release in 2016, I had quickly fallen in love with the song. Powerful drums, polyrhythmic complexity, some driving guitar work and strong lyrics to boot! For the longest time I felt like being able to 'play' such a song was beyond my capability, and I felt as though I couldn't tackle learning it even if I tried, despite how much drumming I had developed over the last decade. Fast forward to today, your boy did it! With a pretty rough 2023 behind me, plus a multitude of life changes and a lot of inner work, I needed to change that mindset around. This song really got me out of some terrible heart spaces. A good song to help channel my inner conflict, and refocus. To help me figure out who I am again. So, I started choosing hard songs to cover as a way to prove to myself that I AM very capable. And this is one of those songs. These Tahitian/Polynesian drums you see in the video have been within my family for decades now, and were used back during our family business, 'Spirit of Polynesia.' At one point in time, we had well over 30 drums within the group to help outfit the drummers for all sorts of gigs. Coming to today, we had given away many of those drums to neighboring halau's, Tahitian, and Polynesian groups for their own needs. Still, a few were left in our possession, and they have not been touched or played on in a long time. Last time these particular drums were used was back in 2019 when I filmed the Final Fantasy X song “RUN“, and even before that, they had not seen the light of day for many years. I hope you enjoy this absolutely crushing cover of one of my favorite metal songs ever. I can't wait to continue sharing more of these epic drums with you all. ------------------------------------------------- Big shout out to: -Nick Loiacono of Fang Studios for the audio and edits! -Fernando Del Valle III for the incredible videography work, lighting, and production, as well as all of the video editing! -Michael Ball as a production extra and moral support. -Big shout also to Adam Janzi of Vola for inspiring me to both cover this song and include my roots! He also has an incredible cover of Clockworks to that really helped me get in the zone for creating and sharing. -And to all of my family, close friends and supporters who have followed me in recent years, waiting on this powerful and creative work to unfold, thank you all so much. ------------------------------------------------ -We did six (6) full song playthroughs, choosing the 3rd take as the final drum audio. -Footage varies between all six of the runs. Mixed with some strobe practical effects, as well as some 'glitch' digital effects during the editing. ◆ Follow me on Twitch: ◆ Follow me on Twitter: ◆ Follow me on Instagram: ◆ Book your session at Fang Studios today: Proud Endorser of: Los Cabos Drumsticks Sabian Cymbals FootBlaster Triggers Vratim Other gear I use: PDP Drums.
