RetroSynth Lazersteel Records Proudly Presents: UAP - I Guess I Really Like You UAP Hi! I'm UAP! UAP is a German based Synthwave/Retrowave project. The experience of 32 years of songwriting and synth programming went into this project. My single “110 Dreams“ was chosen among the ten best international Synthwave songs of the month of February 2022 in “Synthwave Top Ten“ podcast. I have been so honoured to be asked to remix “Color Theory's“ fantastic song “Crystal“ and the remix was also part of the official “Crystal“ single release which went #1 on the Submithub Synthwave and Electro Pop charts. 2022 marks the start of a collaboration between UAP and US based singer/songwriter Katie Tich. This means a merge of styles of Synthwave with Indie Pop which is new to the scene and carries a new sound. The first single of this partnership in music is “Talita“, a dreamy, romantic but powerful epic that's dealing with a love larger than life: You “cross the rivers and the seas“ (as the lyrics say) to find it and to hold her/him in your arms. But it's a tough journey and who knows if you will succeed in the end? So that's the basic idea behind “Talita“. I'm a huge, huge synthwave fan myself and I hope you will hear my love for the genre with every song that I write. However, I like to add my very own personal flavor to the genre which - I think - makes my tracks original, recognizable and hopefully enjoyable. My main influence is Australian band “Icehouse“, especially their early work on albums like “Icehouse“, “Primitive Man“ and “Sidewalk“. I mostly use and love hardware. Among my arsenal of 17 hardware synthesizers are many original machines from the 1980s, such as CASIO CZ3000, ENSONIQ SD-1, ENSONIQ ESQ1, YAMAHA TX7, KORG MS-20, KURZWEIL K2000, etc. Wait! You use (almost) no analogue synth gear? Well, I think that quite unlike the recent public perception of the Eighties as the era of record players and analogue synths I can very well remember that most bands and brands in the Eighties strived for being as “digital“ as you could get. Remember: The CD already started in 1982 and with the PPG Wave, CASIO's CZ series and Yamaha's DX7 there were digital synths available as early as 1981-1983. So as someone who grew up during that decade I was always more fascinated by early digital and hybrid synths technology than with analogue synths and that has remained like it ever after. Although being firmly rooted in the synth world myself I find it very exciting to collaborate with musicians from very different genres, such as Indie Folk for example - the coupling of acoustic guitar with synth sounds can evoke some really fascinating results. However, UAP is not meant to be a project for specialists or hardcore Synthwave fans. It's all just about catchy tunes and great melodies which you like to hum all day and have a good time. It's also about authenticity, serious music making and just good musicianship: Every note you'll hear in my music has been actually played and recorded (which is odd enough you'd have to highlight something basic like that nowadays, but I really would like to say that I don't like to work with pre-recorded beats or other sampled snippets). So if you like Synthwave/Retrowave music, try checking out UAP! Support the Artist: Support RetroSynth: Follow Us:
