This incredible video shows the way a massive Alaskan Grizzly saunters past a group of travellers who manage to keep their cool, with experts saying their calm behaviour almost certainly saved their lives. Bear experts said that the small group had followed exactly the National Park Service’s (NPS) protocols, by not screaming or running, and an older man in the group had calmly spoken to make it clear to the bear that they meant it no harm. The shocking footage shows the massive bear with clearly visible scars which the tourists said had been fighting another bear a short while before walking down the road and breathing heavily, and then when it gets to a signpost with an image of a bear looking back at it, it decides to turn round and again walk back past them again. All the while the calming voice of the man who was the seaplane captain that had flown them there is heard repeating “Hey, big lad” and similar platitudes like “Hey Bear“ to keep the situation under control.
