In the south of Western Siberia, in the Kuzbass, a digital image of the hero of the Great Patriotic War, Nikolai Masalov, was created for the first time. The virtual hero, recreated from photographs and news using Russian neural networks, met his first visitors today, on the eve of Victory Day, in a house-museum in the village of Tyajinsky, Kuzbass. Nikolai Masalov is a native of the Kuzbass, and became famous for his heroic deed. In the last days of the war, he saved a young German girl from being shot and this feat formed the basis of the famous monument to the liberating soldier in the Treptower Park in Berlin. On the initiative of the regional governor Sergey Tsivilev, a copy of the monument was created in 2022 in the capital of Kuzbass, Kemerovo. In the future, the digital image can be used to create a feature film about Nikolai Masalov, as well as to create educational content for exhibitions.
