Jeremy Hunt has unveiled a cut to capital gains tax in a boost for landlords as he also confirmed his heavily trailed cut to National Insurance in his Budget speech. The Chancellor said the higher rate of property capital gains tax would be reduced from 28pc to 24pc. Mr Hunt also confirmed he will abolish the tax system for so-called non-doms in an effort to create a system that is “fairer and remains competitive”. He said he will replace the regime with a new residency-based system which will raise £ a year. Mr Hunt confirmed a further 2p National Insurance cut, from 10pc to 8pc from April 6, with self-employed National Insurance being slashed from 8pc to 6pc.
