Germany: Armenians celebrate Bundestags recognition of Armenian genocide

Around 100 Armenians danced and sung in jubilation in front of the Reichstag building in Berlin on Thursday, following the German Bundestag’s decision to pass a bill that recognises the killing of hundreds of thousands of Armenians and other Christian minorities in the Ottoman Empire as ’genocide’. With only one vote and one abstention, the bill passed by a landslide. Germany now joins over twenty countries, including Russia, Canada, France, who recognise it as a genocide.
