Traveling through space and time. The idea that white holes could be a continuation of black holes, and that such objects might function as portals for moving through space and time, really captures the imagination. This concept is mentioned in theories related to the general theory of relativity and quantum mechanics. Let's explore what we know about black and white holes, and their role in scientific hypotheses about the structure of the Universe. Black holes are regions in space-time where the gravitational pull is so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape from them. The boundary of a black hole, beyond which escape becomes impossible, is called the event horizon. It's believed that at the center of a black hole lies a point of infinite density, known as a singularity. White holes, on the other hand, are hypothetical objects that are somewhat the opposite of black holes: matter and radiation can come out of them, but nothing can enter. Theoretically, white holes would also have an event horizon, through which matter and light can exit, but cannot return. There are several theoretical models in which black and white holes are connected. One such model suggests the existence of “wormholes“ or “Einstein-Rosen bridges“ that link black and white holes in different parts of the Universe or even in different universes. These wormholes could, in theory, allow travel through space and time, but there are significant technical and physical obstacles to such travels, including extreme gravitational instability and issues of energy conservation. The idea that black and white holes could be used as portals at the universe's demise falls into the category of highly speculative. Currently, neither black nor white holes are considered practical means for space travel or saving civilization in case of the Universe's demise. Nonetheless, studying these cosmic objects continues to shed light on fundamental questions of physics, the structure of space-time, and the origins of the Universe.
