Response to nickel serenade ~ In 1979 Legrand recorded an orchestal suite still the standard version running just over 31 minutes with some nice jazz passages early on . Recorded in London with British jazz soloists but essentially a wonderful musicals film score touching all bases. This version featuring harp is much later early 1990s when I purchased my copy initially I preferred the earlier jazz inflected version Nowadays . I'm torn between both almost equally attractive. and who doesn't like harp featured prominently in an orchestra? In response and apologies to bkynbiker such is the swift changing state of the disc business I just do not know whether this recording is still available. Legrand treated us to two full orchestral settings of his most successful musical. In this one harp (Catherine Michel) is featured as main protagonist but apart from a minor reshaping and redistribution of the music the score at 32mins is essentially the same.
