Bad news for the tank this week. I got back to vacation and the more I look at my tank the more issues I found. Snookie is MIA, the tank looks terrible, and it appears we have the largest issue of them all. Dinoflagellates, single-celled eukaryotes constituting the phylum Dinoflagellate and usually considered algae, are in my tank. They are causing all of the coral to die. I need to do something drastic. I need to blackout the tank. The point of the blackout is to deprive the dinos of all of their energy. Once they die, they will detach and get removed through the filter floss. I am hoping this works! If you want to see more of us, we post on TikTok, Reef2Reef, and reddit, so just search our name.
