Visit Visit our website “This Land of Ours: The State of Connecticut” (1947) is a color documentary-short by Carl Dudley Productions as part of his Screen Book of Knowledge and This Land Of Ours series. This film highlights the various historic sites and major industrial and cultural centers of the state of Connecticut from New Haven and Hartford to the tobacco farms in the Connecticut River Valley. Connecticut, known as the nutmeg state, was one of the 13 original states and is today the 3rd smallest state in the Union after Rhode Island and Delaware. Carl Dudley was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in the early 20th century and went on to become a film director and producer. In 1944, he founded the Dudley Pictures Corporation and produced thirty documentary shorts in the This Land of Ours series.
