If you ask most vibraphonists about Dave Pike, they will mostly know about his first two records, “It's Time For Dave Pike“, and “Pike's Peak“. Both of those are great records, but they don't give you the whole picture of just how great of a musician Mr. Pike was. In this video, I wanted to share with you one of my new favorite tracks of his - this is a recording called “Regards From Freddie Horowitz“. Dave Pike lived in Germany from roughly 1968-1973, and during this time I formed a band with some incredible german musicians: Volker Kriegel (guitar), J.A. Rettenbacher (bass), and Peter Baumeister (drums). They recorded a number of records under the name the “Dave Pike Set“. I highly recommend checking them out! There are a number of great videos on YouTube. This first link has the tune that I analyzed in this video: I also analyze the tune for you, as well
