Australian volunteer bat carers raise thousands of orphaned flying-foxes each year before returning them to the wild. All flying-fox populations are in rapid decline and if not for volunteers, many more bats would die slow and painful deaths on barbed wire fences, in large aperture anti bird netting, from both legal and illegal shooting, dog and predator attacks, car hits and electrocution on overhead power lines. Governments aren't listening and policy isn't changing and if nothing is done in the near future, the balance will tip and it will be too late to save our forest pollinators.
