The leader of a powerful mercenary group sent his troops marching toward Moscow on Saturday, seizing a major military base and key installations along the way. Tensions between Wagner boss Yevgeniy Prigozhin and Russia’s military leaders have been building for months over decisions about the war in Ukraine. The troops turned around after a deal was brokered by Belarus. But this was a stunning challenge to President Vladimir Putin’s authority and could weaken him further.
