Full title reads: “Lyme Regis. 'Human Loud Speakers' W. Abbott - winner in 1930 & 1931 - again judged the 'Big Noise' in Town Criers' Championship - the cocked hat trick!“ Lyme Regis, Dorset. A parade of town criers walk up street in Lyme regis ringing their bells. They are wearing their various uniforms. Town Criers used to make proclamations in towns and villages around the country - their position later became mainly ceremonial. People watch as the Criers walk past. One of the town criers stands on a platform in the gathered crowd. He starts his shouting with the traditional call of “Oh yea! Oh yea! Oh yea!“. C/U of different Crier. Pan across crowd. The Crier is somewhat stilted but ends with a hearty cry of “God Save the King“. Pan across crowd as W Abbott is announced as the winner. C/U Mr Abbott. (Sadly we don't hear him issue his cry).
