I just canceled a film trip in BC due to the persistent deep instability that is lurking in the interior of the province this winter. When avalanches start consistently propagating like this one outside of Revelstoke, it’s time to throw what you know out the window and just don’t put yourself in harms way. Thanks for the post Mark Karlstrom @1800shred and @jbuffery for the insight. They think this avalanche might be a size 5 which are super rare. (Usually just a 1-4 rating system for width, length it runs and volume of snow) This was one of many set off by bomb for mitigating risk to highways. I’m still planning on heading up to BC to ride, but will be conscious of what kind of terrain we’ll be on. The snow I hear is still amazing but be careful out there and if you don’t know, don’t go. Or ride with an organization like @baldfacelodge or @cmh_heli!
