Surprise around the corner

It’s not just Goannas. I was going to do some work in the yard just now, but had to reconsider. Because of what was just around the corner of the house, you see. It’s not a pet, this is a wild animal that comes to visit. Yesterday, there were two. It’s a very good excuse for not doing work in the garden. The wallabies like to come because I always make sure not to mow all the grass, I leave small areas of longer grass so they can find food when everything else becomes too dry. They don’t live in my yard, they come and go as they please, although they sometimes sleep in the long grass I have left for them in a small section of forest. Many Australians laugh at the idea that people from other countries may have of Australians “having kangaroos hopping around in their gardens“, but this is not a silly notion. I really do have wallabies hopping around in the garden, as this little video shows. I try to be careful not to startle them when I go outside. And like I said, they are a fantastic excuse for not mowing.
