Aşk-ı Memnu (Forbidden Love | العشق الممنوع) is a Turkish television series broadcast between 2008 and 2010. It is a modern adaptation of Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil's 1899 novel Aşk-ı Memnu. The series became popular worldwide. In this video we are visiting the house (mansion) where the series was filmed on the shore of Istanbul's Bosphorus strait. (Ask-i memnu house in real life) In the series the name of this Bosphorus house (Turkish: Yalı) was Ziyagil Yalısı and Adnan Ziyagil was the owner of the mansion. You may know also different characters like Bihter, Behlül, Nihal and Firdevs from the Series. In reality this house belongs to the Turkish Koç family since 1938. The official name is therefore “Vehbi Koç Büyükdere Evi“. The house is opened to the public with an exhibition, showcasing the kilims, which Josephine Powell collected in Turkey.
