The Nationals are still holding out on a net-zero emissions agreement after a four-hour party room meeting on Sunday produced no outcome. Labor leader Anthony Albanese says the Nationals are holding their Coalition partner to “ransom”, as leader Barnaby Joyce warned on Monday morning against being “backed into a corner”. There are a diverse number of views within the party room of 21 MPs and Senators – with some warming to the idea, and others still firmly against it - holding concerns about what the transition will do for regional jobs and emissions-intensive industries like mining and agriculture.
