Wow... I posted this video only because iPhone to Android texting usually results in poor quality videos for a friend who I was trying to share this great advice with. I left it public figuring it couldn't hurt for a few more people to see it. Apparently, more people were meant to see it. This is the interview that inspired me (Jeremy Alessi) to pursue a career in game design and development when I was 18. I had already made a calculator game for my TI-85 and had fun doing that, so I made another one and sent my TI-85 along with instructions and a letter to David Jaffe. He never received the package I sent, but Lara Dison at Sony wrote me back and told me to get a degree in Engineering or Computer Science. I chose Computer Science and set about on my game development journey. ~20 years later I shipped Swap Fire for Nintendo Wii U (2016) and it found mild success on that console. Swap Fire was the first game that I ever made, which felt anywhere close to what I'd hoped I'd be making when I began. Unfortunately, Nintendo rejected all proposals for a sequel on the Switch so I set about building my own video game platform to publish Swap Fire 2 upon. I successfully achieved that but not before running out of financial options and ending up in a non-video game related full-time job (which felt a bit like the death of my dreams). While working, I started putting Jaffe's stream on in the background, which brought me full-circle back to where I began. I also went back one weekend and played Swap Fire for Wii U, only to be filled with a feeling of “this is a good game, it's such a shame it didn't do better“. So, I combined those two and decided to port Swap Fire to Steam and then sponsor Jaffe's stream as a God of War member in hopes that maybe Swap Fire on Steam could find a niche. Thanks for watching everyone, these golden words of David Jaffe will always be good advice! If you don't mind checking out my game, I'd really appreciate it. And of course, subscribe to Jaffe's channel if you haven't already ;) @DavidJaffeGames Thank you! - Jeremy PS - If you want to follow me or David Jaffe on X:
